Turundus

Kuigi Wê on suhteliselt väikese eelarvega ettevõtmine, laename Hollywoodi-stiilis strateegiadest, nagu sisu-arendus fookusgrupid, kus iga loov element: lugu ja tegelased ise, kuid ka turundus nagu plakatid, treilerid, kujundus katsetatakse ja arendatakse tagasisides tegelike inimestega. Võib-olla on minu filmi-loome stiil tõesti lähemal startup ideoloogiale, sest leian, et mitmed idufirmade loomise õppetunnid kehtivad ka filmi tootmisele. Me üritame leida turule sobivuse alates esimesest päevast, kasutades Interneti võimalusi, näidates prototüüp-versioone sadadele ja sadadele erinevatele inimestele valideeris meie hüpoteese, selle kohta milline film võiks igas kultuuris (erineval turul) töötada.

Filmivõtted leiavad aset Cantagalo piirkonna Roça Colonia Açoreana läheduses metsas asuvas majas vaatega mastaapsele Pico Maria Fernandese mäeküljele. Formaat

Kunst ühendab inimesi ja üks loov idee väljendust leida paljudes vormides kultuurilise, kes inspiratsiooni ühest meediumist teise. Nagu noor režissöör São Tomé partnerit kunstnike ära oma unistused, ja ma otsustasin teha film selle tunnustamine, küsida, mida tähendab olla kunstnik, kui ei inspiratsioon on pärit, maalid maailmas ja kuidas kunst peegeldab meie elu. Kuna dokkfilm kui žanr on piiratud reaalsuses juhtuva püüdmisega, siis näitamaks kõike, mida filmida ei õnnestunud, otsustasin Wê lõpetamiseks valida hübriid-formaadi, mis seob väljamõeldise ja dokumentalistika. Lühifilmid Amor Por Um Dia, ja Fisga näitavad, mis maalide taga juhtub.

Esmapilgul väikese saareriigi kunstnike püüdlused edu poole räägivad sügavamalt sellest, kuidas kunst meie elu peegeldab ning üks loov idee leiab kultuuris väljendust mitmel erineval vormil.

Noore rezissöörina tundsin noorte kunstnike lugudes ära oma enda unistused ning otsustasin selle filmiks pöörata, valides filmi läbivaks tegelaseks ühe — Alex Keller Fonseca — tungides tema maalide taha ning andes maalides leiduvatele inimestele elu läbi noorte kirjanike loodud lugude “Rakulka” ja “Armastus Üheks Päevaks”.

“Wê Antoloogia” on mitme aastane multi-platvorm film, mida kõneleval maal, segamine dokumentaalfilm ja väljamõeldud vormid.

Parim viis jõuda laia publiku ette on Apple App Store, mis lubab sisu levitada paljudes keeltes ja riikides, samas pakkudes võimalust osta 1-klikiga.

Ajalugu

2010 aastal tulin esimest korda São Toméle. 2011. kevadel toetasid Eesti ettevõtjad filmi loomist 7000 Euroga ning naasin veel sama aasta sügisel kolmandat korda. Filmi tegemine on kallim, ressurisi ja ajakulukam, kui oskasin ette kujutada. Põhiliselt just seetõttu, et esimesel katsel (nagu tarkvara alpha-versioonis), ei oska kõike ette näha ja oma loova visiooni alla painutada. Kuna eelarve oli mitu korda lõhki, siis 2012-2013. aastatel maksin oma ettevõtmise võlgasid. Samas õppisin Lissabonis lugude kirjutamist eri suurustega ekraanidele (minu "feature" oli 500M maksev action-ulmekas São Tomél) ning Tallinnas iPad rakenduste arendamist. 2013. a. korraldasin esimese TEDxSãoTomé konverentsi ning Aafrika filmide festivali Lissabonis, vaatasin sadu uusi ja vanu filme, IMDB TOP 250, alustasin uut projekti, et ära vaadata vähemalt 1 film igast maailma riigist, lugesin läbi kõik filmitegemise raamatud, mis kätte sain ning käisin filmifestivalidel kohtumas teiste noorte filmitegijatega. 2014. aastal korraldan São Tomé esimest filmi-festivali ja TEDx 2. väljaannet ning loodan aasta lõpuks vaatajate ette tuua Wê esimese valmis loo.

Kui alguses arvasin, et hästi ette valmistudes on film võimalik valmis teha mõne kuuga, siis minu loova visiooni arengu tõttu pikendasin filmi loomeprotsessi mitmele aastale. Vahepeal olen õppinud, et head filmid võtavad tihtipeale mitmeid aastaid, enne kui loo ja tegelaskujudega piisavalt hea kontakt loodud on, et filmi huvitavaks tegevat materjali filmida võmalik oleks ning sisu mõttes olulised hetked ajaloos toimuda jõuaksid. Võrreldes fiction-filmi või Interneti-startupi ehitamisega, on see dokumentaalse meedia-toote oluline erinevus — aega ei saa alati tagant lükata. Algselt plaanitust pikem produktsiooniperiood on andnud võimaluse erinevaid ideid test-vaatajatega proovida, mis lubab ehitada lõpp-vaatajatele huvitavama kogemuse. Mul on olnud aega areneneda rezissöörina ning saada filmi osalistega paremini tuttavaks. Samuti anda filmile ajalise skaala ja loo-kaare, mida esialgses versioonis ei olnud. Lisaks kõigele on projekti turustamisel parem jutustada filmist, mille loomisel on üle kivide ja kändude võitlemise lugu, mitte lihtsalt kiirelt ja igavalt valmis saamine.

"Wê": The concept is to make films based on paintings.

I often go to art museums and always ask for headphones. And once I realized that it's not the paintings themselves but the stories they tell me that captivates me. So I thought cool: let's make this concept into a series of films.

The first prototype is being made in São Tomé e Príncipe but that isn't to say it's a format made exclusively for the islands. I want to include other artist-writer-filmmaker teams in all corners of the world, like the TEDx format. But before we get there let's start from the beginning, that is to make the first stories that are in São Tomé reach an audience.

Locations

If you want to get into the theme of nature in Sao Tome, then look at this TEDx event, where we were, we called one of the United States biologist who islands in the last decade, each year has been investigating.

Casting

To find the right actor to play Gil, we organized a casting where 30 boys participated. Interacting with the kids I did not feel that it is very fear-related shooting birds would rather they just played, let accuracy and there is some moment in the fight with the other boys. This is my boy, however, is a loner and the slingshot is his only friend. I met a bird researcher, who has spent 20 years in the forest catching birds. Then I realized this is the way the story could proceed. In the first version of the screenplay, we didn't even mention an ornithologist. But with the birds and going into the deep Obo to find a special one the story soon became more exciting.

Writing

The young writer Gilberto Ceita, who wrote the first draft did not own the lines apart, but if an idea I suggested, then he took it immediately embraced as an acute sense of character development. Scientists are more foreigners and there is simply no local role models in this area. But I believe my familiar fowler play out its role in the movie though. And on the ground after the film showing his character could be an interesting inspiration for the children.

Sao Tomé fortunately not yet ravaged by nature very much. But the two companies have, however, come from France and Switzerland, who are planning to do so. Now take though still lagging regions, where there is no primary forest. The local community took up this issue in the media and had a very big controversy, which shows that nature has an interest. But while the local people who work for these companies, and the politicians who promise such things, prefer cash ..

In spring 2012 I was at a screenwriting master-class at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon. We‘re 8 and Gonçalo Galvão Teles is asking each of us deep and hard questions about our stories — our character’s needs and wants. He's the writer who brought Mia Couto’s The Last Flight of the Flamingo to the big screen. And his questions peering at why anyone would watch what’ve we put on the page are making me question every thread of my storyline. The workshop takes place every Tuesday evening — and by every Sunday night we have to submit our latest draft for the other students to review. To me it’s an influential experience and makes me want to always keep doing writing workshops such as this one. Writer’s groups that would allow me to keep collaborating with people who love writing as much as I do. But also a place to get away from the hustle and requirements of daily life, light up my imagination and cook up stories, one more fantastic than the other.

Art connects people and one creative idea can find expression in many forms within culture, carrying inspiration from one medium to another. As a young film director in São Tomé peers for artists take advantage of his own dreams, and I decided to make a film of this recognition, asking what it means to be an artist, where does the inspiration come from, paintings in the world, and how art reflects our lives. The prototype is developed in São Tomé & Príncipe by HAAM. If the app receives lots of attention, we'd be very excited to implement it with artists in others countries, leading to a network of interconnected collaborative art. The BETA version of the app features painters Alex-Keller Fonseca, Dio Lima, Nezo, and Olie Ribeiro, illustrator Will Ferlack, writers Gilberto Gil & Edneyse Coelho.

Chapters

The first chapter "Me And My Friend Slingshot" is based on work by painter Alex Keller Fonseca. The film stars Paulo Jorge Neves as "Gil" and Vivalda Prazeres as "Linda", the boy's mother.

The hybrid screenplay, with contributions from young writers of fantasy stories intrudes the documentary form, bringing to life painter Alex Keller Fonseca's characters imprisoned on canvas through episodes "Slingshot" and "Love For One Day".

Synopsis

The fictional life of characters awakened from a series of paintings, with their stories unveiled, secrets revealed.

Disk One:

Chapter One: "Me And My Friend The Slingshot" — A boy has to choose between roaming the rainforest with his only friend the slingshot and going to school like his mother tells him to meets an ornithologist in search of an endemic species in the deep Ôbo. [Adventure]

Chapter Two: "Love For One Day" — A girl falls in love with the wrong boy and deals with the consequences. [Drama]

Chapter Three: "Domestic Violence" — A woman struggles to find courage to denounce an obsessive man she loves. [Drama]

Chapter Four: "Censorship" — Painters Alex-Keller Fonseca, Dio Lima, Olie Ribeiro, and Catita Dias roam the streets of Sao Tomé and imagining what it could be like. [Mixed-media-documentary-animation with some magical realism].

Disk Two:

Chapter Five: "A Face Behind A Face" — A young man who's a compulsive liar tries to escape detection in a small village. [Comedy]

Chapter Six: "A Spark Of Love" — A girl who dreams of returning to Cuba falls in love with a man a decides to stay. [Romance]

Chapter Seven: "A Lost Childhood" — Two brothers abandoned by their mother go in search of their 200-year-old grandmother who used to be a mermaid. [Fantasy]

Chapter Eight: "The Glittering Sky" — A girl in love with the arts meets a painter. [Romance/Adventure]
